Development Phase of Noida Since Inception

When "Yamuna-Hindon-Delhi Border Regulated Area" got established by the UP Government in 1972 it was done for the planned urban growth of Noida. Until then the governing body of this restricted area was powerless to prevent the development of an urban center there. However, in order to create an integrated industrial township, U.P. Government established the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) on April 1, 1976. A significant population has access to work opportunities thanks to the industrial, economic, and institutional development of the city. This was the direct result of the adoption of consecutive master plans made by the NOIDA Authority. However, even before the strategy was put into action, the fundamental premise upon which it was based got severely re-evaluated. Some specialists suggested that the sizes of concerned sites were too large and the projected worker density was too low for the proposed small-scale industrial units. Even the latest updates revealed that 2,20,000 workers would be employed at the proposed 10,000-acre industrial zone. The expert committee recommended that just 4000 industrial units be included in the township's planning, which would employ around 80,000 industrial workers.  Accordingly, it was estimated that the town's area would be roughly 3360 hectares, housing 5,000 people.  The Master Plan for Noida, 2001, was designed and completed in 1983 based on the expert committee's recommendations.
